Some loved it, some hated it and it was just a case of not enough people liking the her style of music and sound of her vocals that prevented bigger chart success. This was her only single that ever made it into the top ten and got as far as number 3... As long as fans enjoy the music then that's all that matters, you don't have to like any band or artists fashion style to enjoy their music and getting to number one is genuinely irrelevant as it doesn't stop the fans who enjoy her music from liking it... 😉

Yes, that fella needs a slap for talking over this ! There is so little good footage from the beginnings of this band that this is a real treasure. Forty years since Declaration, forty bloody years…..back then I had no concept of what that amount of time meant and now that much time has gone past, it feels like nothing atall 😢 I’ve got Dave Sharps number and we chat occasionally. I personally feel he deserves at least as much recognition if not more than Johnny Marr or Billy Duffy but there isn’t always just deserves in this life 😟

That's mostly always the case for bands/ groups, in most cases the lead singer/ frontman is the one who gets all the attention and becomes the face of the band and the rest hardly ever get any notice, heck many people couldn't even name the musicians in a band (guitarists, drummers, keyboard players etc...) I think the only time people/ fans do know everyone in a band and thinks all the musicians are just as important as the frontman, is when you are a really big fan of that band and actually follow them. Others who might just buy one or two singles cos they like them never really consider all the members who make up that band... "Alarm" footage is as you say is quite rare, it is there somewhere gathering dust in archives but sadly most of it will never see the light of unless someone with an interest in the Alarm comes along and gains access to that footage for a TV show they are going to make. which is kinda sad... Heck still to the day I've yet to find even half decent footage for their Promo video for "Sixty Eight Guns" which WILL be out there somewhere gathering dust and I'd love to get hold of and clean up and upscale to HD, that one is more rare than finding an honest leader of ANT UK political party...

All too true……. Whenever Dave moved to centre stage for one of his songs he was never playing second fiddle to Mike as he was just as good a frontman on stage though maybe not quite as good at interviews etc. I think he was a bit under used really…..One Step Closer could have been a single and if they had survived as a band they could have put out an album with more Dave tracks than Mike Peters ones, that would have made the band stronger as a whole and more versatile. Sadly though I think the truth is that although they were a super tight unit on stage it was a different story off the stage…..they were very different people and I can well imagine that Dave could be quite hard work as he was far more rock n’ roll than the others. Better management and mediation may have saved them but it wasn’t to be 😢

I've no doubt they did but it'd be hard to tell from this when you consider it aint live... 😉

That was the great thing about Darts, they were a group of singers and musicians who were true pros especially with their vocals... They were never full of themselves or took themselves too seriously or were prima donnas like some in the music industry can often be... They were friends, performers & entertainers who genuinely enjoyed what they were doing in putting on a show to make people happy and big Den Hegarty and his falling about antics were a very important part of their show... Most other groups would never have deliberately put on such performances due to their egos... Darts where a refreshing change to those egos of most others bands/ artists and along with their great music and quality "act" then that is the reason why they were (still are) loved by so many, a class act with the ultimate stage presence as you said... 😊

It's been answered many times before here but I'll answer it again for you... The simple fact of the matter is MOST people with Tourettes and the verbal tics DON'T swear, insult or say offensive things when they tic... More than 90% of people with the verbal tics simply make noises or say random words like chicken"... TV documentary makers often look for things they know will draw a bigger audience and they know that putting those who do swear or say insulting things with a lot of their tics into the programme will generate more interest in the documentary... Take one of the tics Paul says in the video of "that's me dad" or the "whistle" he often makes and even that should show you that it's not at all just consisting of saying insults/ swearing etc... 😉

They were quite common when I was a kid back in the 60's & 70's... We called them "Rag & Bone" men... 😉

Some channel owners will use terms like "remastered" int the videos title just try and dray in viewers even though their upload is crap to say the least... But even odder than that is those users/ viewers that then watch them and click on the silly wee "like" gimmick button despite the fact the upload is utter crap quality... Most UA-cam users never get past the first thing in a results list when searching for something and simply watch the one at the top and never look down that list just a wee bit further where more often than not they would find a better quality version... tis their loss at the end of the day though...

No I'm quite sure the song is about death and its essential part of life in this realm. Its nothing to be fearful over its quite beautiful and we all should take time alone to come to terms with our own inevitable death. Life is beautiful and death is just a part of it.
